Hi, my name is Elizabeth. In June 2014 I graduated from Oregon State Univerity with a Master's of Science in Design and the Human Environment with a focus in Functional Apparel Design. My thesis focused on creating a process that would evaluate design criteria for minialist running shoes. The process I came up with I believe can be applied to any functional product (if you are interested in the process check out my portfolio).

In May of 2011 I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Fashion Studies. It was at Columbia that I learned concepts of apparel design, patternmaking and draping, garment construction and CAD.

Currently I work at a little but popular business called Soft Star Shoes, in Corvallis. Here we design, make, and ship minimalist footwear to promote healthy feet.

Functional design is my passion because I am an incredibly active person. It seems a natural extension to me to design functional apparel and footwear. Without functional clothing staying active would be miserable. Therefore, I like coming up with innovative solutions to problems that may present themselves to athletes.

I am a former competitive figure and synchronized skater, marathoner, and aspiring triathlete. As a now not-so-new transplant to Oregon from Chicago, I'm learning to love hiking, biking, trail running, and floating the Willamette River on a sunny day. On the rare occasion that I am sitting on the couch it is usually to watch the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup (That's hockey for all the PNWers).
